¡Welcome to medicinaenpolonia.com!
There are a lot of us who want to study Medicine, but only a few have the grades necessary to do so in our home countries. I took an uncommon alternative: I went to study in Poland where, in contrast with Spain, your grade is not the most important criterion. If you are interested in studying Medicine, living in another country, getting to know new cultures... this is your website! LETTER TO THE STUDENT THAT WANTS TO STUDY MEDICINE IN SPAIN BUT CAN'T BECAUSE OF HIS/HER GRADES
Dear friend,
I’m sure you’re familiar with this: during high school I already knew I wanted to study Medicine, and that therefore I would need really high grades, but for one reason or another, it’s not easy to achieve. I passed high school in June and I passed the University Access exam, but my final grade was just not enough to access Medicine. For the first time I face pure reality: I can’t enter any Medicine university in my country…So now what do I do?
I was told about trying in other countries. My parents spoke to professors they knew in universities in United States, Argentina, Italy… the decision wasn’t easy and in most cases access to those universities was even harder than in Spain.
Through a friend from school, I learned that in the University of Lódz, in Poland, there was an international division in English in which there was no minimum grade to enter.
My parents were shocked at the possibility that I could go so far away, but we gathered information, found requirements, data, how the University worked, where and how I would live… Honestly, it was quite confusing at the beginning, we couldn’t find the dorm, we couldn’t speak with people at pharmacies to buy analgesics… I wish someone had done all the paperwork for me and had taken me to the dorm and the University, speaking Polish… but here I am, in 5th year of Medicine, like a champ.
Ever since, some friends of my mother, who is a doctor in Valencia, have asked us for advice when they realized that their sons and daughters didn’t have the mínimum grade to study in Spain and, via us, more than 15 students have already come to this University.
We have realized that our help is really useful for the new students and their parents when it comes to taking this step, and that’s why we decided to provide this service in a professional manner, given that I can speak some Polish and, of course, Spanish and English, I know the city, the faculty, the requirements, the most convenient banks to send money from home, some tips on how to get installed here, etc…
And don’t let your parents get scared, they’re not leaving everything in the hands of a young student (myself), because I form a partnership with another person in Spain (my mother), and she is who knows every concern that your parents may have and how to solve them, and she is the expert in transforming a cold dorm room into a cozy, personalized home in just one day!
